Meri Lyn

Come practice the piano

Mom called to Meri Lyn

Tomorrow is your lesson

She told her with a grin.

But Meri standing on her head

With lots more tricks to try

Was much too busy to come in.

“Not yet, mom” was her cry.

When tricks were done, the bike came out

And down the street she flew

Stayed to visit Konny Flynn,

Marie and Ami, too.

And finally peddling up the street

She turned into the yard.

Then off to find some other fun

Mom’s pleas to disregard.

So now it’s late and dinner’s on

And Meri Lyn’s not ready.

If ever she does learn her notes

Surprised, her mom will be.
